Free WhatsApp link generator

Enter your WhatsApp number and an optional message to get a click-to-chat link. When a customer taps it, WhatsApp opens a chat with you and your message is ready to send. It is free, needs no sign-up, and nothing you type is stored.

Build your link

Your WhatsApp number

Type the number without the country code. If you type a number that starts with +, we use it exactly as typed.

Keep it short and specific.0/500

The number and message stay in your browser. We do not send or save them.

Your link

Test the link

Paste this into any page where you can add HTML.

What the customer sees first

Where to use your WhatsApp link

Anywhere a customer can tap or click a link, they can start a chat with you.

  • Your website: use it behind a “Chat on WhatsApp” button on your home, contact and service pages.
  • Instagram and Facebook: add it to your bio, your page button and your post captions.
  • Email signature and invoices: a tap is faster than typing a number.
  • Printed material: paste the link into any QR code generator and print the code on menus, shop boards and flyers.

How to get more from the link

Say what the customer wants

“Hi, I would like a quote for a website for my shop” gets a faster, better reply than “Hi”. The message is only a starting point and the customer can edit it.

Use a different message for each place

End each message with where it was seen, such as “from Instagram” or “from the shop board”. When enquiries arrive, you will know which channel brought them.

Replace the [brackets] first

The Price, Booking and Order templates contain placeholders like [service]. Replace them with real words, or the customer will receive the brackets.

Remember the link shows your number

A wa.me link contains the number it opens. Use a number you are happy to publish. If you use the WhatsApp Business app, it can create a short link that does not show the number. Steps vary by app version, so check the app.

Common mistakes that break the link

  • A plus sign, spaces, dashes or brackets in the number. WhatsApp expects digits only after wa.me/.
  • A leading zero. Write 9036294400 or 919036294400, not 09036294400.
  • The wrong country code. India is 91. For the Gulf countries, check the code in the list above.
  • An unencoded message. Spaces and special characters must be encoded. This tool does it for you.

Use the link for people who contact you or who agreed to hear from you. If you plan follow-up messages or broadcasts, ask for permission first and give a simple way to opt out.

Frequently asked questions

What is a WhatsApp click-to-chat link?

It is a web address that opens a WhatsApp chat with your number when someone taps it. The format is https://wa.me/ followed by your full phone number in international format. You can add ?text= and a message to have the first message ready for the customer to send.

How do I write my number in the link?

Use the country code and number with digits only. Leave out the plus sign, spaces, dashes, brackets and leading zeros. For example, an Indian mobile number 90362 94400 becomes 919036294400. This tool does that for you.

Does the link work on a computer?

Yes. On a computer it opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app. On a phone it opens the WhatsApp app. The person does not need to save your number first.

Can I use Kannada or emoji in the prefilled message?

Yes. The message is encoded so any language works. Send yourself the link and test it on a phone before you publish it, because some apps display special characters differently.

Is there a limit on the message length?

WhatsApp does not publish a firm limit for prefilled text. This tool caps the message at 500 characters so the link stays short and reliable. Short messages also convert better.

Is this tool free and private?

Yes, it is free and needs no sign-up. The number and message you type are processed in your browser. We do not send them to our server or save them.

Want WhatsApp to bring you more enquiries?

A link is the first step. We help local businesses set up WhatsApp catalogues, quick replies and follow-up that customers have agreed to.

Link format checked against WhatsApp’s click-to-chat guidance on 25 October 2026. Also see our seasonal marketing calendar for festival campaign ideas.
